Friday night is the first of the PRO 12 semi finals, where Leinster welcome Ulster to the RDS. I’ll be making a rare visit to watch them myself, so I’m expecting them to make a big effort! I am SO looking forward to this match – it’s a chance to right a few wrongs from the last time they met at Ravenhill, where Leinster didn’t do themselves justice. I’m expecting much more physicality, much more intensity from Leinster, and the first 20 minutes will probably be like a full scale battle. The result is by no means certain – Leinster’s complete performances this season have been few and far between, while Ulster while having strung a few good results together recently, have been up and down all season. The teams show very little change from the last match, to me, home advantage is going to sway it, with Leinster to sneak it.
Then on Saturday Glasgow return to Connacht for a rematch – Connacht v Glasgow, the sequel, Connacht v Glasgow 2, Son of Connacht v Glasgow, only this time it’s personal! It was hugely impressive how Connacht managed to contain Glasgow, using their knowledge of the conditions at the Sportsground, fantastic defence, and their blistering attack. In fairness to Glasgow, that red card really killed off the game for them, just as they looked like they were getting back into it. I think Connacht are going to have to play twice as well as they did the last time to win this, the result here is on knife edge, but I think the home side will take it. Just a tip for Glasgow though – if you see a laptop lying around, don’t touch it, don’t even look at it, honestly.
