Ross, Adam, Ed, and Bryan - Mammy Byrne is some woman!

 Ross Byrne

Leinster stamped their intent on the PRO 12 with an emphatic 45 - 9 win over form team the Scarlets. The match was in balance the first half, Luke McMgrath scored two superb tries in the first half, but Scarlets scored three penalties and kept themselves in touch, dominating long periods of the half.

It looked like the second half was going to be close..but Leinster had other ideas. Maybe Mammy Berne went round and gave Ross, Adam, Ed and Bryan a good clip round the ear! It had the desired effect, as Leinster came screaming out of the blocks, scoring four tries in 20 minutes, in a style that made the Scarlets look like a schoolboy side. They got a final try after 80 minutes to complete the rout, while at the same time keeping the Scarlets tryless and scoreless in the second half.

Ross Byrne is really maturing at fly half, putting in pinpoint cross field kicks for Adam Byrne (also playing out of his skin), who offloaded to Ed Byrne for one of the tries. The pack looks solid and dominating, and the backs are just sparkling, both Carberry and Kirchner playing really well out of position. Nigel Owens yellow card for the ball boy was another highlight.  Onwards and upwards!

On Friday both Connacht and Ulster played Italian opposition, with only Connacht getting the bonus point. In fairness, in the conditions were so bad, it was a miracle any rugby was played.

Finally, Munster did well to come from behind and beat Cardiff away, putting their wobble last week behind them.
